“Sergeant Lowman” Short Film

The first weekend in August, I went out of town to act in a short film called “Sergeant Lowman”. It is a romantic story about an American soldier wounded in France during WWII and nursed back to health by a young French woman until he must leave to rejoin his troop. It will be quite short once it’s put together, because it will actually be used as a flashback in a feature-length film as a grandfather tells a story to some young boys about his father during the war. The feature is called “Technicolour Daydream”, and you can follow their progress on their Facebook page! The film will likely be released next year.

Here are some behind-the-scenes pictures that some crew members were kind enough to snap on my cell phone.

I very much enjoyed working with Writer/Director Mitch Hudson, Producer/Set Designer Jenna Green, and Actor Caleb Towns (as well as the rest of the crew). We were delighted to join forces again the very next weekend to participate in a 48 hour film competition! But more about that in another post, coming soon…

“Best Actress” Award!

I am so thrilled and encouraged to receive my first “Best Actress” Award!!! Even though I’m not actually a teen, I also received the “Best Actress Teen” Award for playing a teenage role in Providence.

I want to give a big shoutout to the cast and crew of Providence for the MANY awards they’ve earned, both this weekend and beyond. It’s amazing what God is doing with our humble silent film! And I want to thank Fred and Sharon Wilharm for letting me be a part of this journey!

Even after leading or supporting roles in 8 feature films, 8 short films, a web series, and a few music videos, it still feels crazy to realize that my “far fetched” childhood dream of being a film actress has come true! God gets all the glory for opening every door. It’s nothing that I could have done on my own. Every job has been a gift, a privilege, and I’m so thankful for all the fantastic production teams I’ve worked with and the meaningful stories I’ve helped to tell.

I get messages from people around the world whose lives have been touched by a film I’ve acted in, and it makes me so grateful to be a part of something bigger than myself. We’re here to change lives, influence the culture, and above all to honor Christ, and that is the greatest reward.

You can rent or buy a digital copy of Providence on ChristianCinema.com, or buy a DVD. You can also find it in Lifeway stores! You can learn more about the film, watch the trailer, and see behind-the-scenes pictures {here}.

New Demo Reel!!!

I am very pleased to present a new and updated Demo Reel! The scenes are from Wanted with Andrew Cheney, Love Keeper with Don Brooks, Touched by Grace with Ben Davies, Kera O’Bryon, and Patrick Hussian, and My House with Justin Forth.

Wanted and Touched by Grace are award-winning films. Love Keeper and My House have not been released yet (so this is an exclusive look at footage from those films!). Enjoy!

“The Screenwriters” on DVD!

Two weeks ago, I had the outstanding privilege of seeing The Screenwriters at the Christian Worldview Film Festival! I did all the wardrobe for this film, which was set in the 1940’s. Rich Swingle and I posed with the poster at the festival, wearing wardrobe from the film. Rich does a fabulous job playing a Hollywood director – Forest “Woodsy” Woods – in the film, and his character’s personality is as colorful as the awesome orange pants I picked out for him to wear!

The film was converted to black & white to make it feel more reminiscent of the period, but now at least you can picture Woodsy wearing his orange pants when you watch it. *wink* Meanwhile, I’m wearing a dress that Jenn Gotzon (who plays Elaine Gibson, a Hollywood actress) wears in her last scene of the film.

Our first screening was packed out, with rows of people standing in the back! The audience LOVED the film, and filled the room with laughter many times! When you have poured your heart (and countless hours of hard work) into a film, it is such a thrilling and rewarding experience to feel the room electrified by the audience’s response. It was also the first time I had seen the film, which made it even more special!

Here’s a plot summary: Set in the 1940s, THE SCREENWRITERS brings us into the world of the once-great Stewart Harvey, and the bumbling new kid in town, Chip Leninskovich, who together must hash out a feature-length screenplay in under twenty-four hours. With core ideals clashing and studio pressures mounting, will the tenuous partnership last the night?

Interrupting the writers throughout their ordeal, studio coworkers and enemies impose their ideas on the burgeoning script. Diva director Forrest Woods, glamorous actress Elaine Gibson, philosophical guards Frank and Henry, and Stu’s ex-flame Agnes DeMint inject comic relief as they further complicate the writers’ journey.

As you can see in the picture above, we had a large group of our cast and crew present at the Christian Worldview Film Festival! What a blessing to be reunited with part of my “film family”! At the big Awards Ceremony on the final night, The Screenwriters received the Runner-Up for Best Original Score (Benjamin Botkin) and Runner-Up for Audience Choice!!!

“Providence” On Times Square!

That’s right! My latest film, “Providence“, ran for a week in the AMC Empire theater on Times Square! I took a long train ride to NYC to be there for the first two screenings, Feb. 12 & 13. I played a leading role as “Teen Rachel” in the film. I joined my fellow actors Rich Swingle (Adult Mitchell), Emily Knapp (Young Rachel), Jenn Gotzon (Cheerleading Coach), and Apolonia Davalos (Beautiful Woman) for a Q&A session after both screenings. It was a VERY cold weekend in NYC, but we had a blast! And it was great to hear encouraging responses from the audience.

Providence also screened in AMC theaters in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Charlotte, Tulsa, Jacksonville, and Destin. To watch the movie trailer and several music videos, and see lots of behind-the-scenes pictures from production, the red carpet premiere, and the theatrical run, visit the links below:
